UP THE ANTE SLIDESHOW

Tuesday, December 16, 2008

MAIN EVENT OPENER @ CROTCHED

So you know that the season is officially underway when the Main Event Series finally kicks off. This Saturday the 20th at Crotched Mountain, the Main Event will begin round 1 of it's six part New England tour. Although Crotched was hit hard with the ice storms and lost power for 5 days, they're back up and running and ready for the Main Event. Look for a bigger and better comp this year with even nastier riders from all over the Northeast competing for their chance to be in the U.S. Open. Steez will be co-sponsoring the Main Event this year so make sure to smile for the cameras. See you slopeside.

GREAT TIMES AT THE WHALE

Damn it was cold, but that didn't stop the jibbers from coming out to the Whale for Up The Ante. Most of NH was out of power, 2 inches of ice covered everything, and the high for the day was 14. Undoubtedly a brutal winter day in New England. You gotta love it though. Skiers and riders threw it down on some pretty sick early season features and it was well worth it in the end. Cash, skis, long boards, entire outerwear setups and so much more went to the top competitors and everyone walked away super pumped that they braved out the elements. Props to everyone at Whaleback for making it happen once again.

RAILS TO RICHES

Just like the name states you could make some serious cash in an instant (which is pretty hard to do these days). Men's and womens categories will be judged throughout the days qualifiers and finals will be held under the lights this Saturday December 6th. Get that money while you can.

ALREADY KILLING IT AT MT. SNOW

Opening weekend kicked ass all over New England, but if you wanted park, then "Carinthia" was your word. Mt. Snow's multi-million dollar plan to turn the entire Carinthia side of the mountain into a ridiculous boarders paradise was in full swing last weekend. Hundreds of boarders braved the cold and wind for some of the best early season park riding you'll ever find. Check out the myspace for more pics soon.

PREMATURE JIBULATION AT WATERVILLE

it doesn't matter if the mountains open yet, Roome is to the rescue with their 5th anual premature jibulation series.

Created for your everyday local riders who are dying to get on snow, Premature Jibulation events go down all across North America and Europe through November and December. In many parts of the world, this is the first chance riders have to shred each year. Featuring a jam-session format that is as much about having fun as it is about winning, each event will be littered with rails, boxes, barrels and any other junk we can find that looks fun to ride.

There is no entry fee and the events are open to all riders who want to come out and shred. (Though there is no entry fee charged by Rome, each host mountain might require an early season lift ticket purchase.)
